3 Most Common Air Conditioning Questions:

Question #1: How often should I clean or replace my air filters?

In order to get the most out of your air conditioning system, cleaning or replacing your HVAC air filters should be done at least once a month.

Question #2: Why is my air conditioner freezing up?

There are a few reasons why an air conditioner could freeze. One reason is low refrigerant, and another is lack of air flow to the evaporator coils. When this happens, the first thing you should do is turn your air conditioner off. Keep in mind that setting your thermostat on a low temperature could cause freezing. Instead, set the thermostat to the auto setting and allow your HVAC system time to adjust. By doing so will lessen your chances of damaging the compressor.

Question #3: Why is my air conditioner leaking?

Because air conditioners are meant to extract humidity from the air, it is normal for condensation to be present on or around your condenser unit (outside unit). However, the condenser unit should never look like it is leaking. If the pipes on your condenser unit looks like it has a constant leak even after it has been wiped, then there is a leak present. Things to look out for when this happens are:

  • A rusty or damaged condensate pan
  • Low refrigerant
  • Installation issues
  • Old HVAC system
  • Frozen or clogged evaporator coil
  • Dirty air filter
  • A clogged condensate pipe line
